Leave-In Conditioner Transition...

So i'm currently in the process of transitioning my Leave In Conditioner. I have been using Cantu Shea Butter for about 8 months now. I really love the product and what it does to my hair, however its a REALLY HEAVY product. When I do use it I wont use much, just enough to start my plat but I add the Designer Touch Styling Foam. This product to me holds my hair and doesnt make it hard AT ALL. But please note that it may not work that way for everyone.

My new Leave In Conditioner is Giovanni Direct Leave-In Weightless Moisture. It works for all types of hair and most importantly its ORGANIC. You just apply this product after shampoo and/or conditioner or even with just a Co-Wash. I used it when i did my dry two strand twist last night and had no problems. It actually felt REALLY GOOD. I will post pictures soon with the results and my new hair style.
So check out the section on my page "PRODUCTS I LIKE TO USE ON MY HAIR" to get the new list of products i use.

Happy Curls!!!!

QUEEN CITY NATURAL HAIR AFFAIR

On November 13, 2010 Charlotte, NC hosted its very first ‘QUEEN CITY NATURAL HAIR AFFAIR”. The show took place downtown at the Carole Hoefner Center.

This affair gave women and men of all cultures and hair types the opportunity to learn about “Natural Hair”. There is a large natural hair community that consists of people who study the culture, the science, and the marketing of natural hair.osted that and so much more such as multi-ethnic communities, cosmetologists, jewelry designers, natural products producers, and wearers of kinky, coiled, wiry, spiraled, nappy, curly and everything in between hair.

What is "natural hair" you ask, well to me It is when the texture of hair has grown into its natural state chemical free. Everyone’s natural hair comes in a variety of textures from wavy to kinky, coiled to curled. My hair is a bit different; it’s wavy in the middle, coils halfway through and curled at the bottom. Call it crazy but it’s very different just like me :-)

It was amazing to see so many naturally beautiful women come together to share ideas and not be jealous of one another. Everyone was so open about helping and educating someone they didn’t even know, giving out there personal information and just being a “natural friend” as I would call it. They even had a African Cultural dance group that gave a wonderful opening performance. Please be sure to check them out in my videos.

I learned how to CORNROW my HAIR!!!!

So exactly two days (October 19, 2010) after my 3 year Nappiversary, I finally learned how to cornrow my hair! Hallelujah! Yes I had all this hair on my head and did not know how to cornrow. Heck I didn’t even know how to flat twist. I learned how to do that in September. Now I will cornrow my hair in a hot flash, just because I know how to do it… Take a look :-)

3 YEARS AND RUNNING!!!

So today marks 3years of me being natural with my hair. I'm so proud of myself for continuing to accomplish something that I'm very passionate about. There has been times that I wanted to go back to a relaxer because I didn't know what to do with my hair. But I'm soo happy that I did not and I will not go back. It's just not worth it especailly with the damage that my hair faced for so many years. I hope that my journey will continue to inspire you and please stay tuned for so much more!

Can you tell me how to get… How to get to SEASME STREET!?!

Everyone’s favorite childhood learning program has jumped on board and showing children how to appreciate their HAIR. As they were teaching the children about the letter H is for Hair, the Muppet, who was a little black girl (with a fro) sung a song about how she LOVES HER HAIR! If you missed the episode I have posted the YouTube video on my pages underneath Sesame Street: “I REALLY LOVE MY HAIR”. Please be sure to show this video much support by letting your children, family and friends view it.

The day I made my decision...

It was on October 17, 2007 when I put my LAST RELAXER in my hair. I remember I was in Atlanta, Georgia visiting my friend India Nichols for her Morehouse/Spelman Homecoming. After speaking with her about her plans to go natural and the reasons of her decision I started to think about it me. Thinking about how damaged my hair was even though it was long and how I started noticing a short spot in the middle of my head! And that’s when it hit me… Maybe I should give this natural thing a try, so on my drive back home I really put thought into what, how, and will this actually work for ME!?! I told myself “If it doesn’t I can always put a relaxer back in.
